Mumbai, also known as the city of dreams, is a melting pot of different cultures and cuisines. However, there are some iconic eateries that have defined the food scene in the city for generations. Irani restaurants, for instance, were a common sight in Mumbai and served everyone from a taxi driver to a company executive. They were known for their signature dishes like kheema pav, bun maska chai, and bun omelette, which embodied the soul of Mumbai’s food culture at one time.
Unfortunately, many of these eateries have disappeared over the years as the next generation wasn’t interested in continuing the legacy, and many of these places were let out to banks and retail outlets for economic reasons.
One such eatery was the classic Irani bakery, which aside from the naram pav and brun pav, dished out simple cakes, cookies, and sweet treats that the general public could take home to their families. Sadly, these outlets too have either disappeared or thinned out. However, Faredoon’s, aims to bring back these crowd favorites to the general public in a unique, innovative, and hygienic delivery format that preserves all the original characteristics and at affordable prices using automation.
